Founded by Denis George in 1979, Hotwax originally provided DJ services for mas bands in Notting Hill Carnival. In 1993, they became a mas band, and as such they're committed to making as many people as possible masquerades rather than spectators. Dedicated to promoting innovative carnival design and construction, Hotwax provides an annual mas camp in which costumes are professionally created with considerable attention to detail. We remain true to our grass roots continuing to run a thriving children’s band who promote inclusivity and accessibility within carnival!
Over the years Hotwax has won many awards for the best Mas Band at various carnivals both in the UK and internationally. Most recently Hotwax won awards at NHC in 2023 & 2024 for Best Band.
This year’s theme is The Wild Wild West – Rough, Sexy and lawless HOTWAX 2025!!!

Over the years we have had various groups and organisations sponsoring different aspects of what we do which ultimately contributes to us hitting the road year after year!
