About Us
Founded by Denis George in 1979,
Hotwax initially offered DJ services for mas bands during the Notting Hill Carnival. In 1993, they transitioned into a mas band, focusing on encouraging participation in masquerades instead of passive observation. Committed to innovative carnival design and construction, Hotwax hosts an annual mas camp where costumes are crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Staying true to their roots, they also run a vibrant children’s band that promotes inclusivity and accessibility in carnival festivities.
Over the years, Hotwax has garnered numerous awards for being the best Mas Band at various carnivals, both the UK and internationally. Most recently, they received accolades at the Notting Hill Carnival in 2023 and 2024 for Best Band.
